About the CivicLex Weekly

The CivicLex Weekly is Lexington’s go-to source for accessible, nonpartisan reporting on local government.

Each week, we break down what’s happening in Lexington's City Hall – Urban County Council meetings, policy proposals, budget decisions, and more – so you can stay informed and engaged without having to dig through dozens of documents or sit through hours of meetings.

The CivicLex Weekly is part of CivicLex, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening civic health in Lexington. All of our reporting is free, local, and focused on helping residents understand how decisions are made and how you can have a voice in those decisions.

Our Editorial Team & Process

The CivicLex Weekly exists to make local government in Lexington easier to understand, follow, and to engage wth.

We focus on providing accurate, straightforward information about what’s happening in city government, so people can engage with local decisions in an informed way. You can meet our whole staff here.

Our Editorial Process

Each week, we review public records, meeting agendas, and ongoing issues to identify what’s coming up in local government the following week. From there, we publish a weekly preview of the week ahead every Monday morning, helping our readers understand what decisions local government are making and how they can get involved.

Throughout the week, we follow up on the meetings and issues we’ve flagged, reporting on what happened, what changed, and what it means. We publish once per week, after a final internal review on Sundays.

We don’t use quotes or write in a narrative style. We focus on clear, accessible civic information, and go through significant lengths to not editorialize or point readers toward a specific viewpoint.

Who We Are

CivicLex Weekly is produced by the CivicLex's Civic Information Team, with editing and oversight by our Executive Director.
