As federal support is cut and public conservation efforts fall short in reaching rural Black farmers, one Black-led organization is creating new lifelines to protect historic legacies.
This will be the first Downtown Master Plan since 2007.
On Tuesday, the General Government and Planning (GGP) Committee will hear an update on Lexington’s Downtown Area Master Plan from Senior Planner Boyd Sewe.
Council allocated $500,000 to developing the Downtown Master Plan, which will define the boundaries of Lexington’s downtown area and set a vision for growth and development in downtown Lexington.

The City is currently accepting applications from consultants to be hired to create the plan. A consultant will be selected in April of this year and will work on the plan through the end of 2026.
